The Ballad Of John And Jackie

Went over to Mary’s house for a delayed, catered post-wedding party for her mom and new husband after they recently returned from a honeymoon in eastern Europe. Average age of guests: 70ish. Food was great. Sylvia was in charge of the desserts and her perfectionism showed.

Cat Sitting: Day Three

The cats and my accommodations.

Two More Doctor Visits For Mami

My mom had two more doctor appointments today, both of which went very well with very good test results from her earlier CAT scan. Also stopped by her audiologist and I got some shots of old timey instruments in a display case.

Cat Sitting: Day Two

Not much to report other than a lot of cats eating and staring at birds out the window and my taking pictures of it all. Six of the eight cats were good sports about my intrusiveness. I’m pretty sure that they now accept me as one of them.

Saving Mount Everest

I never knew. Since 1953 when the first expedition scaled Mt. Everest there has been a steadily accumulating mini mountain of rubbish left behind by climbers and tourists. Saving Mount Everest is a project to remove the EIGHT TONS of trash the visitors didn’t take back with them and to teach the locals about solid waste management. Add this to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch that is about the size of Texas and you have proof that there are human pigs everywhere thinking that the earth is their own personal dumpster.

Dining In The Modern Age

Blathered away with my niece on our cell phones as I watched her on a live webcam while she stood in line with her friends outside a restaurant here in San Diego. Unorthodox video chat.

Cat-Sitting: Day One

Today begins my two half days and three full days of house and cat-sitting for the neighbors. Crossing the paths of eight black cats. What could go wrong?

Mami’s CAT

Took my mom for an annual routine CAT scan. She didn’t mind me documenting it.

A Pretty Fair Day

Went to the San Diego County Fair with Mary and her daughter Diana. Spent a bunch of time with different farm animals, enjoyed some pretty decent music, ate some great food, walked by a multitude of product barkers and checked out some really amazing exhibited photography.

Zoo Day With Mary

Walked around and had lunch at the San Diego Zoo with Mary and her daughter Diana. Spent the first hour by myself listening to my iPod and taking pictures of all the two-week old and one three-day old flamingo chicks.

A Hair Piece

Perform This Way is still one of my favorite songs to listen to these days.

You’re watching You’ve Got Weird Al Yankovic. See the Web’s top videos on AOL Video

Three States Of Calling

Received phone calls from three different states today: my brother in smokey New Mexico, Brenda in scorching Texas and Lisa enjoying Walt Disney World in Florida without me.

Half A Family Dinner

Had dinner with my mom, brother, nephew and his girlfriend at my older brother’s house. Was nice. Only got pictures of the food and pets, though. Didn’t feel that the humans were in the right mood.

Walking Along Spanish Landing

Went for another impromptu San Diego walk with the Tapias. This time we met at and walked the Spanish Landing along the bay across from the airport.

Super Duper Super 8

Watched a $5 matinee of Super 8 today with the Tapias and absolutely loved it! Totally The Goonies for a new generation. Definitely not for younglings though (rated PG-13) because of some pretty intense scenes and some language, but overall a terribly fun movie to watch. Great performances by the child actors. Stunning visuals and effects. Perfect combination of Abrams and Spielberg.

UPDATE 06-12-11: Found out that this poster is not official. It was created by a fan. Still, well done.
