Pinterest Bump

So earlier today I decided to pin one of my Flickr photos from Comic Con showing five nubile, female cosplayers dressed as adult-ish Disney princesses onto my Cosplay Corral pinboard on Pinterest (kind of frowned upon to pin your own stuff, but…). By 5:00 PT when Flickr resets its stat counting for a new day, …

Booty Swing

Ever since I heard this song on a Las Vegas Cosmopolitan commercial, Electro Swing has become one of my new favorite genres.

Pine Tree Transplant

What should have been a relatively easy job turned into quite the task as we transplanted a pine tree that was cohabiting a large barrel pot with another tree. I waited too long to start this and their roots were impossibly intertwined. While I did have to do some necessary root-snipping, I’m hoping I saved …

Our Own Gnatcatcher

While doing some gardening in the backyard, I finally captured some images of an endangered California Gnatcatcher whose protected nesting area covers some of the canyon behind our backyard. An unexpected surprise for me was how pretty its singing was.

On The Water

Wonderfully hypnotic video I found on Vimeo. Very well done.

Health Fair At Seaport Village

Met Sylvia and Rodrigo over at Seaport Village as they were out walking their fur-kids, Lilo and Stitch. We ended walking through a Health Fair that was going on at the same time and were given free samples of O.N.E. Coconut Water (which I surprisingly found kind of disgusting) as well as bottles of Solar Rain drinking water, …

My Annual Toast

147 years ago today, my favorite president was mortally wounded and doomed to death a few hours later. Also on this day 100 years ago, the finest ship of its time hits an iceberg and is doomed to sink a few hours later, taking with it the lives of over 1,500 people. Each year on this …

Brenda’s New Glasses

Had another fun video chat with Brenda, my bestie friend in Austin, and she showed me the new glasses she recently got. I think they look great on her. Very natural. After cheersing video-style, I also had a chance to briefly chat with her brother, Mike, who was on speaker phone with her. Video chatting is such …

A Flickr Honor

One of my photos of Funani and Adhama, mother and son River Hippos at the San Diego Zoo, was added to a invite-only gallery on Flickr called E-Ticket of Excellence. The photo seems to be the most popular of that set of photos, although it’s only my second favorite. Still, a nice honor to have. …

Visiting The Zoo With Three Girls

Before meeting up with my friend Angelica and her two daughters, I walked around taking pictures at the San Diego Zoo listening to my Photo Tunes playlist on my iPod. First ran into my friend Rick, the Zoo’s ambassador, and we talked about his upcoming Today Show appearance and about the Gibbon Conservation Center emails …

Another Visit From Ronbo

My high school buddy, Ron, came in for his second of six San Diego visits this month. I went down to the airport to capture his plane coming in, which with how much I had to walk and that he was a few minutes early, I made just in time. He was the captain and …

Growing Hummingbird Chick

Latest update photo of the Hummingbird chick growing in the Tapias’ backyard patio. This photo unfortunately confirms that a second chick did not survive. Not unusual, but sad. It also shows the surviving chick doing really well so far.

Chinese Lunch With Friends

Had an unscheduled lunch with three close friends, Rodrigo, Sylvia and Mary. We thoroughly enjoyed some of the best Chinese food anywhere, at Mandarin Canton in Chula Vista. The three of us shared heaping plates of Szechwan shrimp, cashew chicken, and salt and pepper chicken wings, and all three of which were extraordinarily good.

150th Food Spotted

After slowing down a bit, I finally reached my 150th post on Foodspotting and became a bronze seafood expert in the process.
