Dinner Mexicano Style

After walking around and taking some night shots in Old Town, I had a fantastic Mexican dinner in with my friend, Barbara, and her friend, Kim. We ate at Casa de Reyes in the Fiesta de Reyes area. I ordered the shredded beef taco and pork tamale combo plate and it was excellent. Food and decor-wise it …

Saw The Whole Zoo

Spent the entire day at the San Diego Zoo with my high school friend, Barbara. It was empty enough where we actually walked a good 90% of the park and saw almost all the animals. Two new exhibited animals I saw were a Maned Wolf and a Leopard. Half the guests there were from Green …

Most Of The Family Dinner

Had most of the family over for dinner tonight. Of the locals, only my older brother couldn’t make it. The túrós csusza that my mom made and the palacsinta (crepes) that my sister made tasted great as always.

Hot Chocolate With Cars Two

Tried my second new drink in a row from a Starbucks, that was already surrounded by Christmas decorations to buy, in a Vons grocery store. I ordered a Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate. Took it back to the Tapias to finally watch Cars 2, which I absolutely loved. Amazing movie. Not as much heart as the …

Insidious BBQ

Picked up some great barbecue from Phi’s BBQ with the Tapias and had dinner in Chula Vista, followed by a late night viewing of the scary movie Insidious. The food was awesome as usual. The movie was mostly good scary entertainment. First 2/3 of the movie was fairly good and unnerving, but it went downhill …

San Diego Salute

Captured the San Diego Salute flying formation team as they flew their Beechcraft T-34s over our house this afternoon. They were doing their annual Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial ceremony fly-over.

Penultimate Monarch

Our second to last Monarch emerged today, having smartly waited until the day after our rain storm. It was reborn healthy and ready to take life on in its new form.

My Mom’s Gulyás

Finally got around to adding my mom’s amazing gulyás to her recipe blog.

Flu Be Gone

Got my annual flu shot at Costco today. (Just realized that if I would have written “anal flu shot” my spell-check wouldn’t have caught it.) The nurse may look odd, but she was friendly, quick and really good. I never even felt the jab. Anally might have been a different experience.

Back At SeaWorld

Went walking at SeaWorld with my mom which is something we temporarily stopped doing during the summer months because of the crowds. Saw some interesting animals, not the usual, expected kind: three five-month Arctic Fox siblings, a five-year old Bearded Dragon named Pancake, a European Glass Lizard that was also around five-years old and a …

Another Day, Another Photo

Worked on another photo I will be posting online. It’s not of food, insects, spiders, friends or animals so it must be original.

Brief But Sweet

Had a very short but enjoyable video chat with Brenda in Austin, Texas. She showed me that her flight itinerary was all set for her December visit to southern California. Disneyland on my birthday with Brenda. Nice present.

Two More Photos Online

Posted two additional photos on both Google+ as well as 500px. Both are from Old Town. Decided that adding as many different kinds of shots is more likely to get my photos noticed than focusing on certain topics. Keep hearing that photographers should become accomplished at certain styles, like weddings or landscapes or portraits. I’d …

Hanks For The Memories

My brother sent me an email letting me know that his dog, Hank, had passed away after a very long battle with many health issues. This makes the third canine pet of friends or family to have passed away this year.
