Animal Sitting Redux

After spending the first of two nights at the neighbors’ house, today was my only full day of pet-sitting for them. (There are two half days involved as well.) Here are examples of some of the creatures I am caring for (minus the squirrel sprinkler – it’s on its own).

Street Tacos And Pool Filters

After completing the Las Americas shopping excursion with Sylvia, we indulged in some fantastic Mexican food from Los Panchos in Chula Vista with Rodrigo. I had the carnitas “street” tacos which are always so amazingly good. After lunch I lent Rodrigo a hand with pressure cleaning his pool’s pump filter. My instrumental job was to push …

Final Morning At Heather’s

Without getting into the traumatic aviary events of this morning involving Kevin and Olive, I did have some quality bonding time with both Gordon and Theo. I tired to explain to them why I was leaving after the few days of our fun-filled rabble rousing. I also had some fun with Lauren’s letters. Messing with things …

Gordon, Day Four

Got this lazy, morning shot of Gordon on my fourth day of house-sitting in Chula Vista. This is when he wasn’t sleeping on either my feet, hip, lap, chest or back. Life’s good for Gordon.

Those Cats, Gordon And Theo

Quick snapshots of what it’s like to be either Gordon or Theo, from the house of Heather.

Finch And Felines

While house-sitting for friends of mine in Chula Vista I got these images of their two cats showing more than a passing interest in their Zebra Finches. Nature’s frenemies.

Post Christmas Take-Down

Helping Rodrigo take down the Christmas light tree that we made last December took much less time than it did to create it. The last vestiges of Christmas 2011 are now gone. For our efforts we were handsomely rewarded with an amazing home-made pasta and garlic bread dinner that Sylvia had made.

Sadie’s Shot

Went across the street tonight to feed our neighbor’s dog, Sadie, and give her an insulin injection for her diabetes. She never flinches and is always in such a good mood. Barks a lot, but it’s only because she gets excited.

Visiting A Broken Jane

My mom and I went down the street to spend some time with our friend, Jane, who broke her ankle walking her dog, Bella, on Christmas Day. She’s still going to be in a cast for quite a while, and hating every minute of it. An actor friend of hers, Neil, was also visiting for …

Evening Walk In Coronado

Met my friends Sylvia, Rodrigo, Lilo and Stitch at Tidelands Park in Coronado this evening. We walked up to the Coronado Ferry Landing where we went out on the pier to check out the shimmering downtown skyline as it got dark, and then went back to the Ferry Landing where we sat down for a …

Care Visit #3: Broken Ankle

After visiting my brother and his cats, my mom and I stopped by an actress friend of ours who recently broke her ankle while walking her dog. Luckily her boy friend had just returned from a trip to take care of her while she can’t walk. Bella, her dog, is finally starting to warm up to me and kept …

Care Visit #2: Lentils For My Brother

Went over to my brother’s house with my mom tonight so we could deliver some lentil soup that my mom had made. Plus, she really wanted to play with the cats that she has fallen in love with. Unfortunately my nephew is still out of town and my niece was out with friends so we didn’t get …

Cats: Day Two

Once again, more Christmas decorations (some of my favorite photos so far) than actual cat shots, although two of the cats finally did some wrestling while I took photos. My last night tonight. Or is it? ( f e l i n e   p o s i t i o n s )

Yep, Cats Again – Full Day One

Back again with the neighbors’ cats. Last night was my first of three overnights. Today was my first full day of feline pampering, with the Old Town visit to break up my day. Took a bunch of shots of the neighbors’ Christmas decoration since the cat pictures are all starting to look the same. ( …

Sadie’s Little Prick

Had to go over to the neighbor’s house this evening to feed their dog, Sadie, and give her an insulin injection for her canine diabetes. The frightening photo is misleading because she was a real trooper and never complained. I stayed with her for a while to make sure everything was ok, and she loved …
