My Annual Facebook Birthday Wishes

Collected all of the Happy Birthday wishes I received on Facebook into one single image. Thankfully it always turns out to be a lot of work and that’s a great complaint to have. I am very grateful for all of the good wishes, but I’m not sure I’ll want to do this again next year.

Google+ Communities

So Google introduced a new feature in their Google+ social environment: Communities. And that was my cue to jump in as quickly as possible. I understood right away that this was something that Google+ had desperately needed to become a more interactive place for all gmailers, not just a few who wanted something other than …

My Photo Made The Popular Crowd

After having so far posted 58 photos onto the photographer’s website 500px, the last of my three underwater polar bear photos, which I posted today, finally made the popular list with a ratio of views, “affections” and comments. Not a terribly big deal since my photo was on the 107th page of popular photos, but …

Best Day Ever…While I Wasn’t Watching

So a few days ago, while I was still on my unofficial blogging hiatus, I unknowingly had the most views ever on my blog for one day. Over 2,000. (It was followed by the second most on the next day.) Do not know yet if it was a spambot checking back every few seconds or …

Three More Food Expert Titles

So today I was notified that I became a Silver Expert in Mexican Food and Tacos, as well as a Bronze Expert in Barbecue on Foodspotting. I am appreciative of the recognition but find this a bit puzzling since I haven’t posted anything on Foodspotting since the middle of May, and that was a shrimp …

Tigers Pinned To Win

Created a “Pin It For Tigers” pinboard on Pinterest for a chance to win a behind-the-scenes close-up encounter with large “cats” at the San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park for the park’s 40th anniversary. Right away went looking for and found some amazing images of tigers to pin from around the world. Wish me luck.

New Flickr Group

In an effort to make it easier to communicate about a photog meet-up (hopefully the first of many) that I wish to organize with multiple other photographers who post their photos from the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park on Flickr, I created an invitation-only group…because I don’t already have enough online stuff to curate. …

Pinterest Bump

So earlier today I decided to pin one of my Flickr photos from Comic Con showing five nubile, female cosplayers dressed as adult-ish Disney princesses onto my Cosplay Corral pinboard on Pinterest (kind of frowned upon to pin your own stuff, but…). By 5:00 PT when Flickr resets its stat counting for a new day, …

From The Mother Country…Finally

Finally witnessed the first viewing of my blog from Hungary. Wonder if we’re related. Ki tudja?

A Flickr Honor

One of my photos of Funani and Adhama, mother and son River Hippos at the San Diego Zoo, was added to a invite-only gallery on Flickr called E-Ticket of Excellence. The photo seems to be the most popular of that set of photos, although it’s only my second favorite. Still, a nice honor to have. …

150th Food Spotted

After slowing down a bit, I finally reached my 150th post on Foodspotting and became a bronze seafood expert in the process.

Been Way Too Long

It’s been far too long since I last signed up for a new online social experience and recently my web prayers were answered. I finally received my requested invite to Pinwheel, a new service that’s still in beta testing. Unfortunately only members can see other people’s posts. What is Pinwheel you ask? Jeez, what a …

My Twitter Birthday

To celebrate Twitter’s sixth anniversary, I tried out a horribly named free service called TwBirthday that, once you input your Twitter handle, tells you what day you created your account and gives you a couple of other items of information, such as your godfather (first person you followed, I’m assuming; mine was tech podcasting babe, Cali Lewis) as …

My Tweet Value

So I came across this website called SNPros that puts a dollar value to Twitter accounts. Obviously I was curious to see what mine was worth so I input my Twitter handle and waited a few seconds while it did its appraisally thing. Came back with a respectable $54.80. Not too bad, I thought. Then …

Entered The World Of Pinterest

After patiently waiting on the sidelines for a while and watching others enjoy the benefits (mostly women – 97% I’ve read) I finally dove into Pinterest and created my account. What brought me aboard was that so many photographers were using it two-fold. Firstly, they are using as a good way to keep other people’s …
