Laugh-In Bloopers

Man I wish these were in color. These people knew how to have a good time.

H.M.S. Ball with Steam Powered Giraffe

Went down to the Balboa Park Club to attend the H.M.S. (Holiday Masquerade Steampunk) Ball put on by my sister’s dance group, Waltz & Such.  Took some pictures but mainly stood around or sat watching the steampunk participants do all the dancing. Enjoyed Steam Powered Giraffe, one of my favorite local bands, who I first …

Wonderful, These Videos Three

Three fantastic videos to share. The first two are color film videos from Disneyland in 1956, a year after it opened and the same year that my family escaped Soviet-oppressed Hungary, and the third is a must watch for appreciating every day we are alive. Home Movies At DisneyLand – 1956 from Jeff Altman on …

Combo And The Final Potter

Picked up some great Mexican food from Colimas in Chula Vista and then watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two at the Tapias’ house to finish off the wizarding series. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Thought they did a fantastic job and I’m very sorry there will be no more installments.

Hot Chocolate With Cars Two

Tried my second new drink in a row from a Starbucks, that was already surrounded by Christmas decorations to buy, in a Vons grocery store. I ordered a Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate. Took it back to the Tapias to finally watch Cars 2, which I absolutely loved. Amazing movie. Not as much heart as the …

Insidious BBQ

Picked up some great barbecue from Phi’s BBQ with the Tapias and had dinner in Chula Vista, followed by a late night viewing of the scary movie Insidious. The food was awesome as usual. The movie was mostly good scary entertainment. First 2/3 of the movie was fairly good and unnerving, but it went downhill …

Vonsing, Starbucks Novelty, Pizzas and A Harry Potter Double Feature

Went along on a grocery shopping trip, ordered a (gasp!) new drink (Salted Caramel Mocha) from Starbucks instead of my ever-usual Caramel Macchiato, picked up some pizzas for dinner and sat and watched both Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as well as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One. Perfect way to close …

Eerie Evening Of Waltz

Took my mom down to the Casa del Prado in Balboa Park to attend the “Eerie Evening of Waltz” Halloween dance put on by my sister and her husband and their vintage dance organization, Waltz & Such. Good selection of music, even just to take pictures to. Having a couple of cute spinning girls to …

GeekBeat Meetup With Cali Lewis

Finally got to meet Cali Lewis (Luria Petrucci) in person at a GeekBeat organized meetup at T.G.I. Friday’s in downtown San Diego. I got there an hour early and boy was I the first one there for a long time.  First thing I did when she walked up was get my picture with her.  Didn’t …

Angry Soccer Birds

Dinner And A Show

Had some great Chinese food (Orange Chicken and Coconut Shrimp) from China One in Chula Vista while watching Red, a movie I had been wanting to see for a long time. I hate to admit that I really enjoyed a movie where many people were killed, some quite violently.
