No Charge

About 3:30 in the afternoon my computer lost power. I looked around and saw that everything electronic in my room went dark. Went through the rest of the house and confirmed that the entire house was without power. Not having a data plan on my smart phone I couldn’t check the web for news, or …

World’s Funniest Joke

This is directly from Wikipedia: The world’s funniest joke is a term used by Richard Wiseman of the University of Hertfordshire in 2002 to summarize one of the results of his research. For his experiment, named LaughLab, he created a website where people could rate and submit jokes. Purposes of the research included discovering the joke that had the widest appeal …

So Freaky, But You Can’t Turn Away

Came across this video from a Google+ post. Crazy bizarre. going to the store. from dlew on Vimeo.

Public Service Announcement – Trimethylaminuria

LA Light

A friend of mine posted this on Google+ and I just had to pass it along. Stunning videos of Los Angeles at night.   LA Light from Colin Rich on Vimeo.

900 Number

There are only 900 three-digit numbers. By amazing coincidence that is the same number of posts I now have on my blog, something I never thought I’d reach when I first started. I’d like to thank all the little people, you know…dwarfs, munchkins and midgets.

A Heart The Size Of Herbie

Today I learned that a blue whale’s heart is the size of a Volkswagen Beetle. Also that its tongue weighs more than an elephant. (And I thought I was a huge dork.)

End To The Final Shuttle Mission

Sad that early this morning the Space Shuttle Atlantis landed for the very last time bringing with it a close the entire Space Shuttle program. No more “Right Stuff” adventures for a while. And now we have to rely on the Russians.

Lion On The Loose

Apple finally released it’s latest operating system OS X 10.7 Lion today, available for download from their App Store for $30. A major problem that I and others have, which causes me to hold off until I find a solution, is that some legacy programs that I use like Quicken will not run on it.

All My Head Hairs Cut

Sylvia gave me another one of her great haircuts today in preparation for me sweating less during a humid Comic Con next week.

Return Safely, Atlantis

Watched live streaming HD video of the shuttle Atlantis liftoff this morning on NASA TV’s website. Really sad that it was the last liftoff, but the landing will be even sadder when the shuttle program officially comes to an end.

Watching Nei Work

For a while today I watched a video stream of amazing comic colorist Nei Ruffino do some coloring on a piece. Unfortunately I couldn’t watch the whole time and I missed getting some more image details.

Long May It Wave

While our landlady and her brother were here installing new smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, her brother put up an American flag that my mom had bought a few days ago to display on this Fourth of July weekend. She loves being patriotic, which I commend.

Hot Car

Had ourselves a car fire on the freeway interchange in the canyon below our house. Fire department and police put it out and towed it very quickly and had the traffic backup moving in about twenty minutes.

Happy American Patriotism And Comic Con Month!

Changed all 22 of my calendars to July because June is now pining for the fjords.
